The New Moon in Capricorn on December 23, 2022, is a time to dream boldly for your vision of the future. Capricorn honors the germination process in structuring our journeys ahead. Take it slowly and plan accordingly. The tides are shifting after a big, hard, chaotic year, but we have to be patient for big changes to come.
New Moons are times of darkness and turning inward. Capricorn is an Earth sign so listen to your body. Jupiter squaring this New Moon might ask us to be excessive, so remember where your limits are if you are wanting to feel more restful or introspective this holiday season.
Capricorn season couldn’t come at a more perfect time in the Northern hemisphere. At the end of December, in our secular calendar year, we naturally look back over the past 12 months and assess our goals. We naturally let things die with the Winter Solstice and celebrate the birth of a new Sun and a New Year.
This Capricorn New Moon asks us to check-in in a quiet, methodical way. Don’t put lots of pressure on yourself to find instant answers, but do take the time to journal, meditate, dream, or ask yourself some questions for this next cycle.
Are you still heading in the “right” direction for You? What are you building in your life? Is it practical? Is it sustainable? Does it incorporate your ideals? How can you better set yourself up for success? What might you need to let-go of, so that you can put all your energy towards that which you truly love? What kinds of conversations need to take place?
Chiron stations direct today too. What parts of your life still need healing?
There are five planetary bodies in Capricorn currently: Pluto, Mercury, Venus, the Sun and Moon. This is a lot of Capricorn energy. This part of our natal charts has been getting a bit of a refresh this past year, particularly in the ways we relate to one another and create arbitrary hierarchies in our lives. Check out the area of your chart that contains Capricorn, and look to see what House you are having to renovate.
New Year’s Day may feel more like an extension of this review period instead of a leap into the future. Mercury and Mars will be retrograding until mid-January, so it might be best to hold off on setting any New Year’s resolutions or intentions until both of these personal planets station direct. Until then, we are still examining our relationships, the ways we’ve been hurt, our reactions, and our inner passions. After mid-January there will be more of a forward-moving momentum to make our ideas stick.
Capricorn envisions the big picture view. Take a step back and ask yourself if you are where you want to be in your life, and then begin to imagine. Imagine all of the ways you can begin to take small, realizable steps towards the vision of where you want to be.
Jupiter is at 0° Aries squaring this moon so the potential for this manifestation time is great. It is all about having courage. Dare to be Yourself and to live Your Truth, despite what others may think. Have faith in yourself. What is most important to you?
This New Moon is a time for diving into the darkest recesses of your soul and assessing your blocks and your wounds to see what might be holding you back from being the person you want to be. What patterns need to be recalibrated. Do you need to set up new healthy routines for yourself? Do you need to put boundaries in place? What personal mantras might be helpful for you to remember right now?
Like trees sending their energy down toward their roots in the Winter, we too can root ourselves in what is necessary. We hunker down in our homes with our loved ones to offer gratitude, and we honor those special relationships that can see our inner Light. Who are the people in your life that hold you accountable for your dreams and visions?
Even though it may sometimes feel harsh, like the cold, Winter wind, remembering to honor your inner critic can be quite profound. Where are the lines of your ideals drawn and why?
We are in this together. Slow down and listen. Rest. Dream. The little seed has only just landed.
